63d Infantry Division

Constituted on 18 January 1943 in the Army of the United States, the 63d Infantry Division, given the special designation “Blood and Fire,” first saw action in Europe when elements of the division took part in the defense of Alsace against the Wehrmacht during Operation NORDWIND.
