Charles H. Harpin
Why my brick? I felt it was an appropriate way to honor my Dad for his 20 years of service, especially for the approximately four years he served during WWII and one or more in Korea during that war. I was too busy growing up, going to high school and college, getting married and setting out on my own military career to spend time with him discussing his service and expressing my respect for him. Plus he seems typical of men his age and rarely said anything about his service time. Yet it was the central event in his and my Mom’s lives; everything they did revolved around the war. I’m saddened that I never expressed my respect and thanks for his service. Dedicating this brick to him is my way of honoring him and doing just that.
